Biography
Kawao Tomoko
Born and raised in Hyogo, Japan, Tomoko began learning Calligraphy at the age of 6 and won Awards for her Art at Calligraphic Art Competitions in China as well as Japan.
In 1998, under the renowned Master of Seal-Engraving, Maeda Chyusui, she slowly gained a more extensive understanding and much deeper feeling for the nature of Chinese Characters in and of themselves. Subsequently, after taking part in numerous Group Exhibitions she dedicated herself to expressing her original vision of diversity in her Calligraphic Art.
In 2004 she became the Disciple of Master Syoshu in an effort to give rebirth to her Work and explore even more intensely the essential and authentic aspects of Calligraphy.
Recent years have brought on a feeling of Matiere and she has since discovered and presented her unique and increasingly abstract style through Exhibitions both Domestic and International.
The voyage has just begun. In exploring this new Approach Tone along with a Monochrome Color Theme her desire is to realize the imagined scenery of her Heart and Mind.
Her enthusiatic career as a Calligrapher now ranges among Contemporary Art, Graphic Design and Traditional Calligraphy.
